VBT Surgery - 2 days (S-2)

Well, its the day before we fly to Auckland.

It's becoming more real by the minute, cannot believe that it is actually happening. I'm really anxious and cannot seem to concentrate on anything I have this terrible feeling of dread for some reason that I haven't experienced before.

We had some wonderful people around for lunch, and Skye excused herself from school to join us, we were just sitting chatting when the home phone rang. I didn't get to it in time, then the mobile - that feeling of dread came straight back. It was the girls school.

My middle daughter had been in an accident and was unconscious and they were waiting for the ambulance to arrive - really !! I dashed to the school where they had been absolutely amazing looking after her, but she had caught her fingers in a door.

The ambulance arrived and managed (after morphine) to take a peek - she had partially amputated three fingers on her right hand - disbelief reined.

Off we went to hospital, whereupon (after 5 hours) we are transferred to another hospital specialising in plastics. It's the eve of our flight to Starship, nothing is packed and I'm still at hospital at 10pm.

The surgeons decided not to operate as an emergency as the pieces were still alive and would operate under general tomorrow morning - what - tomorrow morning I'm supposed to be flying to Auckland - ahhhhh.

So, my torn feelings had to be dealt with. In the end I went home got a few hours sleep and arrived back to see her the following morning, she had her surgery and all is well, her fingers are reinstated and there should be no permanent damage apart from some wonky finger nails.

Off to Auckland we go ....
