ASC Surgery - Day 18

Well, we are sitting at the airport - reflecting once again on this incredible journey that we have been on. My heart and head still cannot fathom what we have been through but I'm getting there slowly, and reality is settling in.

We've had a lovely week filled with catching up with lovely families, to rekindling a lost but oh so special friendship :-).

Grandad (93) & Skye have a very special bond, he just loved having her around, and was very sad when we had to say goodbye. But we'll be back, now that flying is back on our agenda :-).

We got a taxi to the airport, and I'd ordered a wheelchair, we flew Virgin Atlantic to Hong Kong and then changed to Air New Zealand through to Auckland and then onto Wellington.

Virgin were amazing with their wheelchair service, and Skye had heaps of fun. Virgin Upper Class was something else and we flew in style with Skye managing to get 8 hours of sleep on the plane.

Once again, in Hong Kong we were beautifully looked after and the airlines couldn't have done anything more to make our transition and flight home comfortable and safe.

Skye had the last of her hospital pain meds on the plane (as we are not allowed to bring them into country) and we'll stick with ibuprofen and Nurofen from now on.

She also had Flyhidrate (https://flyhidrate.com/) which is a natural drink to relax you on take off, assists in preventing DVT and provides hydration.

We landed safely in Wellington, New Zealand on Sunday 1st April, and had the best welcome from her sisters, her bestie and her cousin at the airport :-).

Now for some well earned rest & relaxation. xx
